Heart attacks associated with faster cognitive decline over years: Study - The Siasat Daily

A recent study has revealed that individuals who have experienced a heart attack may face a significant decline in cognitive abilities. The study, which analyzed data from six large studies conducted between 1971 and 2019, found that the decline in cognition following a heart attack was equivalent to six to 13 years of cognitive aging. While immediate cognitive decline after a heart attack was not observed, participants showed a decline in cognitive tests over the years following the event. The findings highlight the importance of controlling vascular risk factors such as high blood pressure and cholesterol to protect brain health.
