Hidradenitis suppurativa with and without draining tunnels: A real‐world study characterizing differences in treatment and disease burden

Patients with moderate–severe hidradenitis suppurativa (HS), 46% had draining tunnels, which were linked to more abscesses, nodules, and scarring. These patients had a higher incidence of pain, inflammation, and mood disturbances. They were also more likely to receive biologics, although not all eligible patients were treated. Draining tunnels were significantly associated with worsened health-related quality of life (HR-QoL), reflecting a greater disease burden. This underscores the critical impact of draining tunnels in HS.
