The study aimed to investigate the relationship between dietary fiber intake and diabetes risk. The study involved analyzing data from 39,185 participants from the Melbourne Collaborative Cohort Study. The results showed that total fiber intake was not associated with diabetes risk. However, higher intake of cereal fiber was protective against diabetes, while fruit and vegetable fiber showed no significant association. The study suggests that specific recommendations on dietary fiber intake may be necessary to prevent diabetes.
