HIIT Improves Gut Microbiota in Obesity

The controlled trial examined the effects of a 12-week caloric restriction, strength, and HIIT training program on gut microbiota and metabolic health in patients with obesity. Intervention participants (n=12) showed improved body composition, reduced liver enzymes, and altered gut microbiota, including increased Akkermansia muciniphila and reduced SCFA-producing bacteria. SCFAs and gut microbes correlated with metabolic markers. Random Forest analysis identified predictive factors like Butyrivibrio fibrisolvens and waist circumference, showcasing the program's impact on obesity-related parameters.
