Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) has a low response rate to first-line chemotherapy, with less than 50% success rate. However, a recent study has shown that high levels of indole 3-acetic acid (3-IAA), a metabolite of tryptophan produced by gut microbiota, can enhance the response to chemotherapy and lead to better survival rates in both PDAC patients and animal models.
