How Deep Learning Transforms Soft-Tissue Mass Diagnosis in Ultrasonography

Researchers have developed a new ultrasonic deep learning model (DLM) system to differentiate between benign and malignant superficial soft-tissue masses. In a study involving 1615 patients, the DLM accurately distinguished between benign and malignant masses, achieving an AUC of 0.992. Additionally, it classified the five most common benign masses with high accuracy. When assisted by the DLM, radiologists significantly improved their accuracy in distinguishing between benign and malignant tumors. This innovative approach holds promising clinical value for accurately diagnosing superficial soft-tissue masses, potentially improving patient outcomes and treatment decisions.
