How Your Sleep Habits Could Be Sabotaging Your Diabetes Treatment

The study aimed to investigate the relationship between social jet lag and glycemic and metabolic control in people with type 2 diabetes. Social jet lag was measured using daily diaries, and metabolic outcomes were assessed at baseline and at 1 and 2 years of follow-up. The study found that high social jet lag was cross-sectionally associated with poor glycemic and metabolic control in working people but was negatively associated with glycemic control and blood pressure in retired people. Prospective associations were not significant, and the direction of the associations differed based on work status. The study suggests that the impact of social jet lag on glycemic and metabolic control may vary based on work status.
