A randomized trial (VAXAK) found that HPV vaccination significantly reduced actinic keratosis (AK) burden in immunocompetent patients. Over 12 months, AK reductions were consistently higher in the vaccinated group, with fewer thick lesions observed. While new AKs and keratinocyte carcinoma rates remained unchanged, results suggest a potential role for HPV vaccines in AK management.
