New PTH Therapy Improves Hypoparathyroidism Treatment

Palopegteriparatide, a long-acting PTH analog, was shown to normalize calcium and phosphate levels, reducing the risk of long-term complications such as nephrocalcinosis and nephrolithiasis in hypoparathyroidism. Compared to conventional therapies, it lowers serum calcium fluctuations and reduces the pill burden, significantly improving patients’ quality of life. The 2022 international guidelines now include palopegteriparatide as a recommended treatment, alongside other emerging therapies for hypoparathyroidism.
