RISUG, involving the injection of a polymeric agent, styrene maleic anhydride (SMA), in di-methyl sulphoxide (DMSO) into the sperm duct, was developed by Dr. Sujoy Kumar Guha of IIT Kharagpur. The study found no serious side effects and no adverse effects on the volunteers' wives, providing hope for a viable male contraceptive option.
