Illuminating the Importance of Pulmonary Arterial Compliance in Pulmonary Hypertension

Pulmonary hypertension (PH) is a condition marked by increased pressure in pulmonary arteries due to various heart and lung diseases. The classification of PH has evolved over time, and researchers have focused on pulmonary arterial compliance (PAC) as a significant marker. In this study, researchers used a network medicine framework to identify patient subgroups based on clinical variables, finding that higher PAC was associated with better survival. This relationship held true across different PH categories and even in patients with increased pulmonary vascular resistance. The study highlights the potential importance of PAC in predicting outcomes and potentially guiding treatment in PH patients.
