A study developed an immunofluorescence microscopy method for detecting myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPN) by analyzing blood smears. This technique identified distinct platelet and red blood cell abnormalities in MPN patients, such as NMMIIA aggregates and altered platelet alpha granules. With 135 MPN patients and 83 controls analyzed, this method offers a cost-effective, accessible diagnostic tool, especially useful where advanced molecular testing is unavailable.
