The clear cells exhibit unexpected functions, such as transferring proteins to sperm through vesicles and nanotubes. Mononuclear phagocytes' immune roles and antigen-handling abilities are summarized. The review also discusses the immunoregulatory mechanisms enabling an immune-privileged environment for sperm maturation and storage. It delves into communication networks between clear cells and phagocytes in both normal and injury conditions, shedding light on understudied aspects of male reproductive health and mucosal immunology.
