Interventional endoscopic ultrasound (IEUS) has become increasingly popular, demanding well-trained endoscopists for safe and effective procedures. A review study evaluated the impact of different training models on the competence of IEUS trainees. Eight studies on IEUS simulators were identified, examining various models including EASIE-R and EndoSim. Objective and subjective parameters were used to assess the effectiveness, indicating improvement post-training, although external validation is lacking. The study emphasized the need for standardized evaluation methods for IEUS simulators and the development of key attributes in endoscopists for advanced therapeutic EUS interventions.
