The study explored the perceived impact of consultant-level allied health professionals (AHPs) in critical care. Interviews with 5 consultant-level AHPs and focus groups with 7 senior medical and nursing staff identified four core themes: scope, status, supportive leadership, and impact. AHPs in these roles, with an average of 3.2 years in position and over 15 years of experience in critical care, were found to improve service delivery and patient outcomes and contribute to strategic planning.
