Impairments of functional exercise capacity, muscle strength, balance and kinesiophobia in chronic kidney Disease

Patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) in stages 3–4 exhibit compromised functional exercise capacity, respiratory and peripheral muscle strength, pulmonary function, and balance, according to a recent study. The research, comparing CKD patients (53 years, 26M/17F) to controls (51 years, 33M/12F), found significant disparities in the 6-minute walk test, muscle strength, pulmonary function, physical activity, and balance, with higher levels of dyspnea and kinesiophobia in patients. The findings suggest the need for cardiopulmonary rehabilitation programs for CKD patients to address these impairments.
