The study evaluated the use of a virtual reality (VR)-equipped navigation system to improve the accuracy of balloon sinus dilation (BSD) of the maxillary sinus. The study was conducted on cadavers, and the accuracy of dilation was assessed using a standardized rubric. The results showed that the VR navigation system improved the accuracy of cannulating the natural ostium during maxillary BSD, with an accuracy rate of 77%. The study suggests that further investigation is warranted in live subjects.
