Inflammatory burden is associated with eGFR decline in chronic coronary syndrome patients

A study on a chronic coronary syndrome cohort investigated the link between inflammatory status and renal dysfunction. Inflammatory markers like hs-CRP, TNF-α, adiponectin, and others were measured. Over a 3.5-year follow-up, 145 out of 850 patients had a >25% decline in estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR). Elevated hs-CRP, TNF-α, and adiponectin independently increased the risk of renal events. Combined inflammatory scores showed a notable correlation with renal decline, highlighting the impact of the inflammatory burden on eGFR in these patients.
