Influence of Glenohumeral Joint Position on Subscapularis Muscle Dynamics After Latarjet Surgery

The Latarjet procedure, a recognized surgical remedy for recurrent glenohumeral joint instability, involves routing the conjoint tendon through the subscapularis to the coracoid bone graft. The in vitro study quantified the impact of glenohumeral joint position and conjoint tendon force on subscapularis muscle sub-regions after Latarjet surgery. Conjoint tendon loading post-surgery significantly altered the lines of action and moment arms, potentially increasing joint shear and reducing flexion capacity. These findings have implications for surgical planning and rehabilitation strategies.
