Influence of the Frequency‐to‐Place Function on Recognition with Place‐Based Cochlear Implant Maps

The study suggests that using a patient-centered mapping approach that considers the variability in cochlear morphology may lead to better speech recognition for electric-acoustic stimulation (EAS) and cochlear implant (CI) users. The study tested three map conditions and found that the OC SR-AI place-based map resulted in better performance than the default map and the SG place-based map. The study suggests that EAS users may benefit more from this approach than CI-alone users. The findings highlight the importance of individualization of electric filter frequencies for better outcomes in cochlear implantation.
