A study investigated if initial weight change (WC), self-weighing, and adherence to expected WC trajectory predict long-term WC in an underserved primary-care population with obesity. Data from 452 participants were analyzed. Initial weight change, daily weights, and adherence were assessed. Predictive models showed initial WC strongly influenced WC at 6, 12, and 24 months. Self-weighing and adherence slightly enhanced predictions beyond initial weight loss. Results emphasize initial WC's significance in predicting long-term WC and suggest self-monitoring and adherence can enhance prediction accuracy.
