The study uncovered a link between insulin resistance (IR) and cognitive impairment in Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) patients with Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD). The study of 143 individuals reveals elevated IR levels in those with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) and NAFLD. Correlations with cognitive tests highlight IR's impact on executive functions and information processing speed. Notably, HOMA-IR emerges as a risk factor for MCI in all patients and influences cognitive performance in T2DM individuals with NAFLD.
