The study assessed the integration of strict vascular access blood flow surveillance with routine clinical monitoring to predict vascular access stenosis in chronic hemodialysis patients with arteriovenous fistula or arteriovenous graft. Among 397 patients, two blood flow surveillance models using thresholds of < 400 and < 600 mL/min, followed by physical examination, demonstrated 91.54% and 72.15% accuracy in predicting stenosis in arteriovenous fistula and arteriovenous graft, respectively. Quarterly blood flow surveillance with these models could enhance early stenosis detection, potentially improving outcomes for hemodialysis patients by facilitating timely intervention. The study highlights the importance of integrating objective monitoring with routine care for vascular access in dialysis.
