
Targeting the α4β7 integrin through the antagonist vedolizumab (VDZ) is one of the current therapeutic approaches against inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Understanding the mechanisms of integrin-based drugs is of great importance to improve their efficacy by adjusting to patients’ individual needs. Two new studies discuss the mechanistic underpinnings of integrin-based drugs and of VDZ, respectively.
