A study examined the effects of breaking prolonged sitting with short bouts of light activity on type 1 diabetes (T1D) patients. Involving 32 inactive T1D adults interrupted sitting with 3-minute walks every 30 minutes led to lower mean glucose levels (6.9 vs. 8.2 mmol/L) and increased time in range (85.1% vs. 71.5%). Hyperglycemia was reduced by 15%, while glycaemic variability decreased by 7.8%. This strategy enhances glucose control without increasing hypoglycemia risk—a promising approach to combat sedentary behaviour and boost physical activity in T1D.
