A study revealed a sharp drop in epilepsy cases after intensified onchocerciasis elimination efforts. A biannual ivermectin treatment and vector control reduced epilepsy incidence from 348.8 to 41.7 per 100,000 person-years between 2018 and 2022. Key risk factors identified include proximity to breeding sites, age (6-40), gender, and treatment adherence. Challenges persist, calling for sustained community-directed treatment and vector control to maintain gains against these conditions.
