A study conducted at the University Eye Clinic in Tuebingen, Germany, delves into the impact of voretigene neparvovec treatment on retinal dystrophy stemming from RPE65 gene mutations. Sixteen eyes underwent adaptive optics ophthalmoscopy (AO) imaging at various intervals over 12 months post-treatment. Results revealed significant changes in lumen diameter (LD) and wall cross-sectional area (WCSA) after two weeks, with subsequent stabilization. However, retinal atrophy persisted, and no inflammatory signs emerged. This suggests AO imaging can aid in monitoring genetic treatment effects. Still, challenges remain in capturing retinal vessel changes.
