A recent study highlights a concerning trend in China, where the proportion of young breast cancer patients under 35 is notably higher than in Western nations. Distinct clinicopathological characteristics and clinical challenges are observed among these patients. The study involved two cohorts, revealing a rising incidence of breast cancer in those under 35 in rural areas. Over time, more patients received adjuvant taxane-based treatments and underwent breast-conserving surgeries. Additionally, ovarian function suppression in endocrine therapy increased alongside extended treatment. While 5-year survival rates improved, overall survival rates remained consistent. Early diagnosis and prolonged endocrine treatment were associated with better outcomes.
