Laser Photocoagulation Outcomes in Type-II Selective Fetal Growth Restriction with Monochorionic Diamniotic Twin Pregnancies

A recent multicenter study investigated monochorionic diamniotic (MCDA) twins with Type-II selective fetal growth restriction (sFGR) who underwent fetoscopic laser photocoagulation. The study findings showed 98 MCDA twin cases, with 56 classified as Type IIA and 42 as Type IIB. Type-IIB cases had earlier gestational diagnoses, smaller intertwin weight, and lower postnatal survival (23.8% vs. 46.4%). Preoperative Doppler assessments of DV and MCA proved vital in identifying high-risk patients. This study provides crucial insights for surgical management and patient counseling.
