Long-term conservative treatment outcomes for midshaft clavicle fractures

A study assessed the long-term outcomes of conservative treatments for midshaft clavicle fractures administered 10 to 30 years ago. The study evaluated 38 patients through a telephone survey, and the affected shoulder showed higher symptomatic scores (ASES and SPADI) compared to the unaffected side. The symptomatic group exhibited larger proportional changes in clavicular length and displacement. This suggests that midshaft clavicle fractures, treated conservatively, may lead to persistent symptoms, emphasizing the need for comprehensive follow-up care.
