Low Public Awareness of Steroid-Related Ocular Risks in Hail

A cross-sectional study in Hail, Saudi Arabia (Sept–Nov 2024) assessed steroid use and public awareness of its ocular complications. Among participants (51.8% male, 18+ years), 74.5% never used steroids, yet awareness of steroid-induced cataracts (30.8%) and glaucoma (21%) was low. Findings highlight the need for improved patient education, healthcare interventions, and stricter regulations on over-the-counter steroids.
