Low testosterone at age 31 associates with maternal obesity and higher BMI from childhood until age 46 — A birth cohort study

The study suggested that low testosterone (T) levels in men at age 31 are linked to prenatal factors and body mass index (BMI) development. The study analyzed the records of 132 men with low T and 2561 men with normal T levels. The findings revealed that maternal obesity during pregnancy was more common among men with low T. Additionally, men with low T had an earlier onset of adiposity rebound and higher BMI from that point until age 46. The study highlights the importance of preventing obesity, as it can impact the reproductive health of future generations.
