
This study investigated the potential of magnesium ascorbyl phosphate (MAP), a stable derivative of ascorbic acid, as a treatment for bone loss disorders. The researchers found that MAP stimulated human skeletal stem and progenitor cell proliferation and differentiation in vitro. MAP supplementation also enhanced bone formation, alleviated bone loss, and accelerated bone defect healing. The activation of the CaMKII/ERK1/2/CREB/C-FOS signaling pathway by MAP was identified as the underlying mechanism. These findings suggest that MAP could be a promising therapeutic option for osteoporosis and other bone loss disorders.
