Management of large placental chorioangiomas: novel approach for fetal intervention

A recent study examined the management of large placental chorioangiomas (tumors) through different thermal techniques. The utero interventions included radiofrequency ablation, interstitial laser surgery, and fetoscopic laser photocoagulation were performed. The study found that fetoscopic laser photocoagulation of feeder vessels showed promise in managing large chorioangiomas. The two-port percutaneous fetoscopic technique was particularly effective for tumors in the posterior placenta with large feeder vessels. Initiating interventions before the onset of fetal hydrops was recommended.
