Maternal cardiovascular function in midgestation is related to placental angiogenesis

A study of 4006 pregnant women at 19-23 weeks' gestation found that lower placental growth factor (PlGF) and higher sFlt-1 were associated with subclinical alterations in maternal cardiac function. These associations were independent of maternal risk factors and pregnancy complications.
