The study investigates the association between maternal folate intake during pregnancy and pubertal timing in boys and girls. The research analyzed 6585 girls and 6326 boys from a Danish population-based Puberty Cohort and used multivariable interval-censored regression models to estimate mean monthly differences according to exposure groups. The study found that prenatal exposure to low maternal intake of total folate in mid-pregnancy was not associated with pubertal timing in girls but was associated with slightly later pubertal timing in boys, which is not of clinical importance.
