Maternal sensitivity and children’s sleep problems across early childhood

A study examined the link between maternal sensitivity and childhood sleep issues. Involving 942 mother-child pairs from the Generation R Study, researchers tracked maternal sensitivity and child sleep problems from ages 1.5 to 6. Results showed that higher maternal sensitivity at age 3 was linked to fewer sleep problems at age 6. However, no significant bidirectional connections were found. This suggests parenting might impact childhood sleep during the early years.
