A study on 90 patients assessed the impact of maxillary sinus mucosa preservation after inferior maxillectomy and soft-tissue free flap reconstruction. Patients with mucosa preservation had significantly lower sinus scores (0.31 ± 0.47) at 24 months, while those with mucosal sacrifice had higher scores (1.21 ± 1.30). Findings highlight the benefit of preserving sinus mucosa for better postoperative outcomes.
