The study aimed to determine the suitability of the FACE-Q H&N patient-reported outcome measure in assessing speech- and swallowing-related quality of life and function for patients with head and neck tumors. Two patient cohorts who had undergone jaw reconstruction were assessed using the FACE-Q H&N, MDADI, and SHI scores. The study demonstrated that the FACE-Q H&N showed strong correlations with MDADI subscales and SHI, indicating good construct validity. Known groups testing also demonstrated that all instruments could delineate outcomes among patients who had radiation, advanced tumors, and tracheostomy. Thus, the FACE-Q H&N may be an alternative for the SHI and MDADI in this patient cohort.
