
The study explores the postmortem brains of individuals with asymptomatic Alzheimer’s disease (AsymAD). Findings show that AsymAD brains have fewer tau aggregates, increased microglia around plaques, and heightened actin-based cell motility. Spatial transcriptomics revealed upregulated autophagy, endocytosis, and phagocytosis pathways in the plaque niche. These factors may contribute to resilience against cognitive decline and slow Alzheimer’s progression compared to symptomatic AD.
