A study focused on children undergoing mental health treatment during the pandemic revealed that parents struggling with COVID-19 restrictions saw an increase in children's behavioral problems. The impact was mediated by parental mental health and stress. Family problem-solving skills acted as a resilience factor. The study surveyed 337 parents with children aged 4-18 in mental health treatment; the study found a correlation between higher COVID-19 impact and increased behavioural issues in children, with parental stress as a significant mediator. Improving family problem-solving skills may mitigate the impact of parental stress on parent-child conflict.
