The study examines meniscal calcifications in individuals with knee osteoarthritis (OA) versus those without. Analyzing 82 meniscal samples, we found that basic calcium phosphate (BCP) was predominant in OA cases (80%), while calcium pyrophosphate dihydrate (CPP) was similarly prevalent in both OA and non-OA individuals. BCP may be a specific marker of OA, with its presence linked to higher Pauli scores.
