These hallmarks are supported by changes within the tumor cells themselves, as well as alterations in the surrounding microenvironment. Cellular metabolism, which refers to how cells utilize energy and nutrients, plays a crucial role in this process. As a result, studying metabolic adaptations in cancer has become an increasingly important area of research. In this viewpoint, this article provides an overview of the significance and implications of metabolic changes in tumors, offering a broad perspective and presenting some examples. The article also speculates on the future prospects of cancer metabolism research.
