The study examined the outcomes of arthroscopic rotator cuff repair in patients with massive rotator cuff tears (MRCTs) over a minimum of 5 years. It included 51 patients (53 shoulders) with a mean age of 59.7 years. The patients' progress was assessed using various patient-reported outcome (PRO) measures. The results showed significant improvements in PRO scores, reduced pain, and increased return to activity. Of the 53 shoulders, only 3 (5.7%) experienced surgical failure. Importantly, age did not have a significant impact on the clinical outcomes. The study concluded that arthroscopic rotator cuff repair could effectively treat MRCTs, even in older patients.
