Mirror Syndrome, also known as Maternal Mirror Syndrome (MMS), is a rare condition that occurs when a foetus develops a severe medical condition that leads the mother’s body to mimic the symptoms. It typically develops when the mother has preeclampsia and the foetus has an abnormal accumulation of fluid. Symptoms of Mirror Syndrome include extreme edoema, elevated blood pressure, excessive weight gain that occurs quickly, and protein in urine, which are also typical symptoms of preeclampsia. Mirror Syndrome can lead to complications like foetal hydrops, and treatment options depend on the situation. Early delivery is often advised to preserve the mother's health.

Most recommendations remain conditional because evidence certainty is low or very low in several clinical areas.

PEDIATRICS

A Colombian nationwide study reports chILD prevalence of 3.32 per 100,000 children and rising annual case rates.

A nationwide Colombian study identified 4,608 healthcare encounters related to childhood interstitial and diffuse lung disease (chILD) from 2016–2024. Average annual prevalence was 3.32 per 100,000 children, highest among infants and with a secondary rise during adolescence. Reported cases increased annually (IRR 1.022), while declining markedly during the COVID-19 pandemic.
