The study investigated the T cell and antibody responses to SARS-CoV-2 mRNA vaccination in multiple sclerosis (MS) patients and healthy controls (HCs). The study found that MS patients on fingolimod or ocrelizumab had lower seroconversion rates compared to HCs but had preserved cytokine-producing T cell responses. The percentage of SARS-CoV-2 peptide-reactive CD4+ T cells increased in HC and ocrelizumab groups, but not in fingolimod group after vaccination. The findings suggest that MS patients on immunomodulatory therapies may have attenuated humoral responses but preserved cellular responses after SARS-CoV-2 mRNA vaccination.
