This study published in the Journal of Child Health Care examined the impact of a multidisciplinary clinic on the care and outcomes of children with Esophageal Atresia/Tracheoesophageal Atresia (EA/TEF). The study included 27 patients born between March 2005 and March 2011. The findings revealed that the establishment of the multidisciplinary clinic improved the coordination of care and access to outpatient services for children with EA/TEF. Compliance with the visit schedule was high, and compared to a previous cohort without such a clinic, the new cohort experienced fewer hospital admissions and reduced length of stay in the first two years of life. This suggests that multidisciplinary care clinics can enhance the coordination of care and potentially reduce the need for acute care services for medically complex children.
