A network meta-analysis involving 6,113 children aged 4 to 16 years compared the effectiveness of 12 non-pharmacological interventions for reducing dental anxiety and heart rate during pediatric dental treatments. Music therapy was found to be the most effective for alleviating dental anxiety (SUCRA: 93.60%), followed by aromatherapy (78.58%) and gaming (70.99%). In terms of heart rate reduction, hypnosis ranked highest (SUCRA: 98.80%), with music (79.58%) and relaxation techniques (72.41%) following closely. While the study highlighted the efficacy of these approaches, the authors acknowledged that further high-quality research is needed to confirm these findings due to the limited number of available studies.
