Researchers have conducted an in-depth study on vascular smooth muscle cells' gene regulatory networks and their impact on coronary artery disease. The study analyzed 151 heart transplant donors' cells and identified key modules responsible for cell proliferation, migration, adhesion, and differentiation. Additionally, the correlations between nitrogen metabolism-related genes and coronary artery disease-associated genes was observed, indicate the involvement of nitrogen metabolism in the disease's progression. Dysregulation of vascular smooth muscle cell metabolism could contribute to disease development. The study also highlighted the potential roles of AMT and mannose phosphate isomerase in regulating nitrogen and glycolysis-related metabolism.
