Neuromodulators Show Promise for Chronic Refractory Cough Relief

The study reviewed 103 patients treated with Amitriptyline or Gabapentin for chronic refractory cough (CRC). A 55.6% response rate was observed, particularly among those with chemical cough triggers. Pretreatment CSI scores also predicted response, while other factors did not. However, 70% of patients reported side effects, suggesting benefits must be weighed against tolerability in CRC management.
